Creative Academy Preparatory celebrates World Book Day!

This week, the Creative Academy School of Excellence learners were treated to a special outing to the Brackenhurst library filled with discovery, creativity, and storytelling.

Upon arrival, the children were warmly welcomed by Mirriam Nokwazi Ngobese, the friendly librarian who has passionately dedicated her time to Brackenhurst library for the last 6 years. ” Mirriam guided our learners on a delightful tour of the library. With bright eyes and curious minds, the learners explored the different sections of the library, learning about how books are organized into various categories such as stories, animals, fairy tales, and more” said Principal Tyla-Jade Botha.

Mirriam took time to explain how a library works, showing the learners how to borrow and return books. She also demonstrated how to sign up for their very own library card—a step that left many little faces beaming with excitement!

After the tour, the library team hosted a fun and heartwarming craft activity in celebration of Mother’s Day. The children enthusiastically created handmade cards and drawings, pouring love and creativity into each piece.

The visit ended on a magical note as Mirriam gathered the children for a special storytime. With animated voices and gestures, she brought the story to life, leaving the young audience completely captivated.

It was a day full of learning, laughter, and inspiration. At School of Excellence, we aim to create a love for literacy and books as Dr Suess once said “The more your read, the more things you’ll know, the more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
