At Creative Academy Preschool and Baby Centre we enrol children from the age of six weeks to Gr 000. Our small classes enable the teachers to give the children the individual attention they deserve and require.

Our nursery is completely separate from the rest of the school, catering for babies from six weeks – twelve months of age. The babies safely develop their gross motor skills and are exposed to different textures and natural elements, all in the comfort and security of their own garden which leads off of the nursery. The teachers in the room develop the babies muscle tone by using a variety of baby massage techniques, jolly jumpers and large exercise balls. To assist cognitive development, we have music rings, read stories and have a variety of sensory equipment and toys which the children play and experiment with. Our teachers are equipped with handy information and tips for parents, such as breastfeeding, weaning, teething and milestones.

For our toddler through to Grade 000 groups, we follow an exciting and enriching, EYFS (Early years foundation stage) curriculum. We focus on creating an inviting and stimulating atmosphere in all the classrooms where, on a daily basis, the children are exposed to seven learning areas. Special attention is paid to developing the children’s senses through a variety of messy play activities. For literacy and language development, the phonics system of Letterland is followed.  All lessons are linked to a theme and are age appropriate. To enhance the curriculum, the children go on educational outings and we have a variety of shows during the term.  The children are constantly challenged, allowing their minds to grow. As part of our inclusive sensory learning programme we offer Clamber Club once a week from our 18 month – Gr 000 groups.

Each age group receives three progress reports per year with a pack of each child’s artwork that has been produced throughout the term.

We offer a variety of extramural activities that are done on the school premises during our outside play time. These are optional extras that are paid for directly to the providers.

We have separate playgrounds to accommodate each age group and have a ridged “Anti-bullying Policy” in place. Children are encouraged to make use of all the outdoor equipment and emphasis is placed on developing the children’s gross motor skills and co-ordination.

Our hours are Monday - Friday 06:30 - 17:45 for a full day and 06:30 – 14:00 for half day.   We are open from January to December every year and work according to the government school terms. During the holidays we run a fun and exciting holiday programme which is included in the monthly fee.

We supply nutritious meals which include a cooked breakfast, morning snack, cooked lunch with a protein, starch and vegetable and afternoon snack for full day children.    The menu has been compiled by a children’s dietician and all meals are freshly prepared on the school premises.

We have a security guard/ access controller who is on duty from 06:30 until closing. We are linked to FOX Security and have 24 hour protection 365 days of the year. Our school is monitored by CCTV cameras in all common areas, classrooms and playgrounds. All our staff are first aid trained and are fully equipped with CPR skills for infants, children and adults. On-going training is provided for all our staff to ensure that they are kept abreast of any new developments in education.

We believe having open communication with our parents is key to maintaining consistency in the upbringing of the children. Monthly newsletters are sent home, we have the D6 Communicator which is an online form of sharing news and events as well as an SMS service. Each child has a communication book that will be sent home with any memo’s or notes.

A highlight of the year is our annual concert production where the children stage a fun-filled performance. Our Grandparents’ Day, Helpers’ Day, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day events, Easter Function and our end of year Christmas Market and Carols by Candlelight  provide a wonderful opportunity for parents and families to get to know each other better.

Our children learn and grow in a safe and secure environment. They are encouraged to explore... going places they might fear, yet being supported every step of the way!

At Creative Academy we embrace the fact that children will be children; we love and nurture each child working towards creating confident, self-sufficient adults.

If you have any questions regarding our curriculum or daily routine, please feel free to contact us. We are proud of our school and would be glad to show you around.
